Season of the Gods

Many centuries ago
When the gods ruled over all the heavens, twins were born to a mortal mother and a divine father. The twins’ mother died in child birth and with their father being a god, they were raised amongst the all mighty rulers.
The twins always had mischievous side- but as they grew older, it became more and more destructive. By the time they reached adulthood, the gods realised that something had to be done to bring an end to the demigod sisters’ ways.
As punishment, Summer, with a soul as unpredictable as a fire, and Winter, with a heart as cold as ice, were exiled to earth to serve as caretakers of the land and the mortals. The gods hoped that this would teach the twins responsibility and lessen their unruliness.
But even the most powerful gods could not foresee the path these girls would take.
As time went by, the twins’ destructive path started escalading. Blazing winds and drought followed Summer around as she roamed the land. Wild fires spread, destroying vegetation leaving the mortals on the brink of starvation. As Winter wondered the earth, she brought a chill to everything she touched. The unbearable cold spread frostbite, hale and rainstorms over all the civilisations. With flash floods happening more often, farmers feared that they would not be able to plant their crops in the wet lands.
The gods realised that they had to make a change before all the mortals and land they inhabit was destroyed. Fearing more retaliation from the twins if they were let back into the heavens, the gods sent two demigods, Autumn and Spring to balance the devastation that was fast approaching earth.
Bringing with her, the perfect rays of sunshine, Spring would ease the destruction that winter caused. Slowly the flood waters would dissipate, making the land fertile once more. Blooming blossoms would let the mortals know that the land was ready to be planted.
After the heat brought on by Summer’s burning soul, Autumn would ripen the fruit trees and bring signs of the cold that was approaching. With every green leave changing to red, the mortals would prepare for the big harvest. From the first leave falling, mortals would harvest their crop as autumn ripens the fruit in the orchards so that enough fruits and vegetables could be gathered before Winter arrives.
And so, it is, until this day, blossoms still let mortals know to plant their crops. And as the leaves start changing colour, the harvest can begin and food will be plenty.

After graduating from Ruth Prowse School of Art with a distinction in Fine Arts, I began working as a fine art lecturer and a practicing visual artist. I have always been interested in colour theory, fabrication and human form and when I changed career paths from visual arts to special effects make-up and prosthetics, these skills helped me excel in this new field.

Starting as a special effects make-up and prosthetic technician and assistant, I soon realised that i found my niche. After two years of hands-on experience under the guidance of Organic Canvas’s founder and genius, Chad Waller, I have worked my way becoming a promising prosthetic painter and a skilled fabricator.

JADE DOREEN WALLER, AN INNOVATIVE YOUNG ARTIST FROM CAPE TOWN, CREATED A STIR IN THE INTERDISCIPLINARY VISUAL ART INDUSTRY WITH HER UNIQUE APPROACH TO URBAN CONTEMPORARY ART WHEN SHE PRESENTED HER HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL SOLO EXHIBITION. TO READ MORE ABOUT JADE DOUBLE CLICK ON HER LOGO.
